About Vivian B. Adams School
In 1967, a group of citizens in Ozark, Alabama concerned about the lack of available care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, initiated the development of a unique community culminating in the establishment of Vivian B. Adams School (VBAS) in Ozark, Alabama. Since opening the doors in September of 1971, Vivian B. Adams School continues to make dramatic differences in people’s lives everyday by serving the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) from Barbour, Coffee, Dale, Henry, Houston, and Pike Counties in Southeast Alabama.
The goal of VBAS is connecting people to possibilities. The mission of VBAS is to provide people with ID opportunities for a meaningful life. Our goal and mission are accomplished daily by the following strategies:
To connect by building relationships with stakeholders and faculty enhancing opportunities for knowledge, life skills and social interactions in all programs.
To celebrate achievements, milestones, and everyday life in the VBAS Family.
To create an environment of diverse experiences empowering learning and promoting self–confidence and collaboration.
