Hounds Hunting with Heart Brings Community Together to Support VBAS
The Heart of Dixie Coon Hunters Association once again demonstrated the power of community through its annual Hounds Hunting with Heart event, held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Dale County Ag-Plex Arena. With strong support from across the Wiregrass, the event raised over $50,000 in vital funds to benefit Vivian B. Adams School and the individuals it serves.
The day was filled with activity, featuring a car show, dog shows, auctions, raffles, vendors, and two Nite Hunts—offering something for everyone while celebrating a shared commitment to making a difference.
Proceeds from the event will support VBAS’s Playground Revitalization Project, helping create a safer, more accessible, and inclusive outdoor space for individuals of all abilities. Funds will also enhance opportunities for community participation and provide assistance to underserved individuals with intellectual disabilities across the school’s six-county service area.
Events like Hounds Hunting with Heart continue to play a vital role in expanding opportunities for the individuals at VBAS—supporting experiences such as community outings, social events, and enrichment activities that promote independence, connection, and quality of life.
VBAS extends heartfelt thanks to the Heart of Dixie Coon Hunters Association for their continued dedication and vision, as well as to the many sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community members who made this event possible. Special appreciation is extended to New South Cruisers Car Club, Dale County 4-H, Dale County Extension Service, Dale County Ag-Plex Arena Authority, and Dale County Cattlemen’s Association for working hand in hand with VBAS as valued community partners. Their collaboration and support were instrumental in the success of this year’s event.
“Each year, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to live in a community that cares so deeply,” said Hannah Parker, VBAS Director. “Because of this support, we are able to continue connecting individuals to possibilities and creating meaningful opportunities for those we serve.”
Vivian B. Adams School remains grateful for the partnerships and community support that make its mission possible and looks forward to continuing this tradition of impact for years to come.
